Hi DWK dance families,

A few updates now that we’re already into March!

March Break

A reminder that the studio is closed and there are no classes from Monday, March 14 to Sunday, March 20. Classes resume at their regular schedule on Monday, March 21.

NOTE: We have made the decision to continue with dancers wearing masks for at least a few weeks after March Break but we will no longer be requiring dancers to complete the health screening survey before attending class (but dancers should continue to stay home if feeling sick). This is an important time of year as we are finishing learning choreography and we currently feel more confident in our ability to continue to offer uninterrupted in-person classes if we continue wearing masks in the studio. We will be keeping an eye on local cases as the restrictions lift and will let dance families know when masks will be optional for dancers.

Interested in Spring or Summer Dance?

We’re planning ahead and would love your input to make sure we plan classes and camps that match with the demand for different ages, styles, and formats. Please take a few minutes to fill out the “Interest Form for Spring & Summer 2022 Dance” and feel free to share the link with others you think might be interested as well.

Spring Dance Dates – Coming Soon!

Stay tuned for dates and details as we make plans for our spring dance events including our in-studio Picture Day, in-studio Festival of the Arts adjudicated workshops, and the DanceWorks Kenora Year-End Recital.

Ms. Erin is still working on the detailed plans for each of these events but we will be sending another email in a few days with the dates and information we have so far so that you can mark your calendars.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we put these plans together now that restrictions are easing.

Support for Ukraine

Did you know that our hip hop teacher Lena is a Ukrainian born Canadian. She has a number of friends and family members currently in Ukraine and has given a few local interviews (with the Kenora Miner & News and KenoraOnline) describing the situation and the personal impact of the Russian invasion. Ms. Erin has made a personal donation and encourages all of our dance families, if you are able, to make a donation to a charity or aid organization of your choice to provide support for the people of Ukraine.
