Adjudicated Dance Performances
Saturday, April 11, 2026
9:00 am to 4:30 pm
St. Thomas Aquinas High School (use lower entrance to gym)
All Dance Foundations, Primary, Junior, Intermediate, Senior, and Ensemble classes participate in the Kenora District Festival of the Arts (KDFA). This is an educational performance opportunity where classes perform and receive feedback from an adjudicator. The dance adjudicators for 2026 are Magdalena McGregor and Willow Harvey. You can read their bios at kdfa.ca/adjudicators
If your dancer is sick or there is an emergency that prevents your dancer’s participation on the day of the event please notify Erin at info@danceworkskenora.com or by texting 807-464-3666.
Backstage Access & Class Supervisors
For safety reasons and to allow the dancers to focus on their performance preparations the backstage area (music room) will be limited to teachers and volunteer supervisors. Parents/guardians can sign their dancer in and then can proceed to the gymnasium area to watch. Dancers will remain with their group until after the adjudication for their session at which point they can be picked up in the backstage area.
Audience
This event is open to the public, invite your family and friends! There is no charge at the door but KDFA will gratefully accept donations towards their future programming. A reminder of arts audience etiquette: 1) no entrance/exit during a performance, 2) silence/turn off your devices, 3) cheer and be supportive of all performances and performers.
Costumes, Hair & Makeup
Please double check that you have all components of your costume, including your proper dance shoes, clean tights, hair supplies, and makeup prepared in advance. You can review the requirements for each class in the 2026 Costume, Hair & Makeup note (pdf) available under “News” on danceworkskenora.com and tights can be purchased from the studio through the DWK Online Store.
Workshops
As part of KDFA, dancers have the additional opportunity to learn from the adjudicators in a workshop class. All dancers are strongly encouraged to attend one or more of the workshops. You do not need to be training in the style to attend the workshop. KDFA has made the workshops free this year (but are accepting donations). Reserve your spot by completing the KDFA Workshop registration form (pdf) at kdfa.ca. Registration may also be accepted the day of the event if spots are still available.
