Adjudicated Dance Performances
Saturday, March 29, 2025
9:00 am to 4:15 pm
St. Thomas Aquinas High School (use lower entrance to gym)
All Dance Foundations, Primary, Junior, Intermediate, Senior, and Ensemble classes participate in the Kenora District Festival of the Arts (KDFA). This is an educational performance opportunity where classes perform and receive feedback from an adjudicator. The dance adjudicators for 2025 are Carmelle Hearn and Danielle Platford. You can read their bios at kdfa.ca/adjudicators
If your dancer is sick or there is an emergency that prevents your dancer’s participation on the day of the event please notify Erin at info@danceworkskenora.com or by texting 807-464-3666.
Backstage ACCESS & CLASS SUPERVISORS
To avoid unnecessary crowding and allow the dancers to focus on their performance preparations all non-supervisor parents will check their dancer in at the backstage area and then can proceed to the gymnasium area to watch.
Teachers and class supervisors will be there to help dancers prepare to perform. Dancers will remain with their group until after the adjudication for their session has concluded.
Audience
This event is open to the public, invite your family and friends! There is no charge at the door but KDFA will gratefully accept donations towards their future programming.
A reminder of arts audience etiquette: 1) no entrance/exit during a performance, 2) silence/turn off your devices, 3) cheer and be supportive of all performances and performers.
Workshops
As part of KDFA, dancers have the additional opportunity to learn from the adjudicators in a workshop class setting. Dancers are strongly encouraged to attend one or more of the workshops. You do not need to be training in the style to attend the workshop. Cost is $15 per workshop (cash only). Reserve your spot by completing the KDFA Workshop registration form (pdf) at kdfa.ca
