November Studio News

It’s back to all regularly scheduled classes. We hope you had a restful week off.

Proper Dance Attire is a Requirement

A reminder that an important part of dance class is coming to class prepared with the proper attire, hair, shoes, and a water bottle. You can always double check the dress requirements for each class under the FAQ on danceworkskenora.com (These are guidelines only for Adult classes but are requirements for all child and teen classes).

Parent Viewing Week – December 12 to 17

Parents and immediate family of dancers are invited into the studio the week of December 12 to 17 to watch a typical class and see what we have been working on so far this year. Younger siblings are welcome to attend if they can remain relatively focused and quiet for the duration of the class time.

Please keep in mind that our studio space is limited and keep the number of observers per dancer reasonable. Our spring performances are the time to invite extended family or friends.

Winter/Spring Session Registration

We are nearing the end of the Fall session of classes, including Creative Movement, Adult and Gentle level classes, and all levels of Hip Hop. Registration for the Winter/Spring session will open on November 15.

Winter/Spring session will also include new mini-sessions in Pilates and Parent & Tot.

Pre-Season Show Performance

DanceWorks Kenora will be represented at the Kenora All Star Cheer Pre-Season Show by the Saturday Primary/Junior Ballet class and the Senior Jazz class. These classes have been learning routines to perform at Beaver Brae on Friday, November 25th at 7:00pm. If you’ll be at the event give an extra loud cheer of support for their performances.

Important Spring Performance Dates

Please mark the following dates on your calendars. If you know your dancer will not be available for one or both of these performance dates please let Erin know as soon as possible as it will impact class choreography and costume orders.

Adjudicated performances will take place in the morning at the Seven Generations Event Centre with age based workshops in the afternoon at the DanceWorks Kenora studio. Additional information will be sent out in the new year but Dance Foundations, Primary, Junior, and Senior levels are typically entered in the Festival of the Arts.
