Happy New Year!

We hope everyone had a happy holiday season with some time to rest, relax, and recharge. We’re back to our regular dance class schedule beginning on Sunday, January 5.

“Ready to Dance” Challenge

Let’s start the new year off making sure all dancers are coming to class ready to dance. This means having the appropriate dance attire/shoes, properly secured hair, and water bottle plus following class etiquette/rules and bringing a positive energy to class. Together these items make sure we can dance safely and can get the most out of our dance time each week.

For our full year dance classes, we’ll be keeping an eye on these “ready to dance” items for the first few weeks of January. Dancers that are excellent in their attire, hair, water bottle, and etiquette/attitude will be entered in a special draw.

You can review the dress code, watch a ballet bun tutorial video, and buy dance wear through the links on our website at danceworkskenora.com/dress-code/

January Payments

A reminder that installment payments will be processed to the credit card on file on January 5. If you’d like to pay in full you can do that through your DWK portal account at any time. Payments can also be made via cheque or cash (exact amounts only please) or via e-transfer to info@danceworkskenora.com

Pick-up/Drop-off & Winter Boots

Please take off your winter boots as you come into the studio and place them on the boot trays. This will help keep our floors dry and reduce the risk of getting our dance shoes, socks/tights, or bare feet wet while getting ready to come into the studio.

For safety we ask that a parent/guardian walk Creative Movement & Dance Foundations dancers to and from the studio entrance. With our larger lobby area we also invite you to come in and help your dancer with their jackets and shoes. Parents/guardians are also welcome to wait in the lobby during their dancer’s class. If you are parking please continue to be mindful of our neighbouring businesses and use the marked spots as much as possible rather than parking in the middle of the lot (particularly for the first few classes of the evening when our business hours overlap).

Picture Day

Please mark your calendars for our studio picture day on Saturday, February 22. We are working with Stafford Studios again this year to take the group and individual photos. We will have the schedule for the day ready in a few weeks. If you know your dancer has another event that day we can often accommodate for conflicts when creating the schedule. Please let Ms. Erin know about any scheduling requests by Friday, January 10 and we will do our best to factor that in when creating the schedule (once the schedule is sent out it will be final).

Performances & Costumes

As we enter the new year we’ll be focusing on preparing for our spring performances. This includes Kenora Festival of the Arts for Dance Foundations, Primary, Junior, Intermediate & Senior level classes plus our 2025 Recital for all levels (including Creative Movement). Dancers in many classes have started to try on costumes and we will be finalizing costumes throughout January. Dancers will begin taking costumes home in February. More details for these events will be sent out as the dates approach.
