Hi dance families,

We hope the first day of school is going well for everyone and we are looking forward to getting the 2024-2025 dance season started soon! Our full year and fall session classes begin the week of September 8 and mini-session classes start the following week of September 15. We’ll be sending a reminder email with your dancers schedule listed later this week but here are a few studio news items for your reference as we get closer to our first week of dance classes.

Do you know someone that might be interested in dance? Registration is still open and we have a couple of our weekday Creative Movement classes we’d love to add a few more dancers to in order to keep the schedule as planned and avoid needing to combine classes. Pass on our class information to your friends and family – your referrals are a big help to us and help the studio continue to grow! Most classes still have a few spots left and any classes with spots available during the first 2 weeks of classes will be available for trial class attendance.

Dance Class Checklist:

  • Proper dance attire and hairstyle (see the DWK dress code)
  • Style specific dance shoes (indoor only)
  • Water bottle
  • Dancers with back-to-back classes may want to bring snacks. No peanuts please.

Open House & Mass Registration

Have questions? Want your dancer to have a chance to see the space before their first class? Need to buy some dancewear? Stop by during our open studio hours this week.

Wednesday, September 4 – 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Friday, September 6 – 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm

We’ll also be at Kenora’s Mass Registration Fair on Thursday, September 5th at the Jarnel Contracting Pavilion from 5:00 to 7:00 pm (but we won’t have our dance apparel there, so if you’re looking for that please stop by during our open house hours.)

New Entrance & Lobby

We’ve been making some changes at the studio and have now expanded our space to create a new lobby/waiting area for dancers and their families. Want a sneak peek? We’ve posted a video to our social media or you can stop by during open house hours this week.

Everyone will now enter and exit through the glass doors and the green door will be our emergency exit only. The lobby will open 15 minutes before the first class of the evening and will remain open until the last classes of each night. Age 8 and younger dancers should always be accompanied by an adult in the lobby. Dancers will be invited into the studio by their instructor when their class is about to begin and are encouraged to bring their dance bag and any valuables into the studio with them during their class.

We are hoping this new space will be a comfortable and welcoming spot for dancers and their families. As a shared community space we ask that everyone please do their part to respect the space and to keep it clean and tidy. Note: There is a security camera in the lobby but no direct supervision will be provided by the studio.

Dance Apparel Now Available

The studio now stocks and sells some dancewear and apparel including leotards, skirts, shorts, leggings, tights, ballet shoes, hair accessories, and more. You can view items in the studio lobby and all purchases can be done through the DWK Online Store. If we don’t have your size in stock we will be making purchases at set times throughout the year and can order what you need.

Payments

During the registration period only the first installment and membership fee was charged to dancer’s accounts. The remaining installments will be posted to accounts after the first week of classes and are due on the 5th of each month. Credit card payments will be processed either in full or in installments as selected in your account. If you are paying in full by cash or cheque or with post dated cheques please be sure to bring the correct payment amount once the balance is posted to your account. If paying in full you can also send an e-transfer to info@danceworkskenora.com.

You can log in to the DanceWorks Kenora Portal at any time to update your payment method, make an advanced payment or double check your account balance. If you have applied to Triple Play or for funding through another organization please make sure you have notified the studio.

Scholarships

Did you know that we offer scholarships? If your dancer or another family is not participating in dance classes only due to financial reasons then please consider applying for our scholarship program. Read more and fill out the application on our website at danceworkskenora.com/financial-support/
