Hi DWK dance families,
We hope everyone had a restful and relaxing March Break. We’re headed into the final portion of our dance season and have a number of events coming up over the next few months. Thank you for continuing to read the newsletters and notes so that you are fully up to date with all of the studio happenings.
Classes Resume on Sunday, March 17
We’re back to our regular schedule of classes starting on Sunday, March 17.
A reminder to all dancers and families that part coming to dance class is being dressed appropriately. Having the proper attire, shoes, and hairstyle is required and ensures dancers can participate safely and with minimal distractions. Dancers should also bring a water bottle and make sure it is filled before class begins.
RWB “On the Edge” Tour – Sunday, April 21
DanceWorks Kenora is thrilled to welcome dancers from the RWB School Anna McCowan-Johnson Aspirant Program on Sunday, April 21 for a performance of both classical and contemporary dance. This is an exciting opportunity for members of our community to experience ballet up close and learn about the athletic and artistic development of a professional dancer from some of the stars of tomorrow. Parking Lot Reminders
A reminder to please use the spots closest to the studio as your first option. If all of the marked spots are full please use the overflow parking area on the east side of the lot (closer to Dufresne). Be careful not to park in a way that blocks access to NAPA’s garage door for larger delivery vehicles or for their smaller delivery vehicles to come and go.

If you are here for drop-off/pick-up only it is okay to briefly use the middle of the lot but be careful that you are not blocking access to vehicles or businesses. This is particularly necessary when our hours overlap with our neighbouring businesses – on weekdays until 5:30 pm and Saturday mornings.
We know the layout and the flow of the parking lot is not ideal, thank you for making your best effort!
Spring Performances
Performance time is coming up quickly! We will have more detailed information coming soon for both the Festival of the Arts (April 6) and our 2024 Year-End Recital (May 9 to 11). Festival details, including when dancers perform and what time they need to arrive, will be sent out as soon as possible after we receive the schedule from the event organizers.
All classes that participate in Festival (Dance Foundations through Senior levels) have been sent emails with links to rehearsal videos and the music files for their routines. Parents, please make sure your dancer has access to these files and encourage them to review at home occasionally. A few practice sessions at home can make a significant difference in their confidence with the dance and their ability to perform fully in front of an audience.
Creative Movement and Creative Movement & Tap classes will receive links in the next few weeks to their rehearsal videos and music files (as these younger classes don’t participate in Festival and have a bit more time to prepare for their Recital performances).
Spring Session & Summer Camps
We’re in the final stages of confirming the details of our spring mini-session and summer dance camps. Current dance families will have a short priority registration window once the information is released. Stay tuned!
