Hi DWK dance families,

Happy New Year! We hope everyone enjoyed their holiday break. We’re looking forward to getting back to dance class starting this Sunday and settling back into our regular schedule and routine.

Classes Start This Week

We’re back to dance beginning on Sunday, January 7th. All classes begin this week, including full-year classes from Dance Foundations through to Senior, the winter sessions of Creative Movement and Creative Movement & Tap, as well as our mini-session classes for Parent & Tot and Gentle Adult.

Need a reminder of the proper attire or hairstyle for your class? Review the dress code online anytime or watch this ballet bun tutorial video for tips. Dancers should also make sure they bring a water bottle to class each week.

Winter Registration

Know someone that wants to dance this year? There are some spots still available for registration in the new session of Creative Movement classes and in some of our mini-session classes. We also have a few spots available for late enrollments in some of the full-year classes including any Dance Foundations level classes as well as Primary Hip Hop. Hip Hop Workshops – Saturday, January 13th

We are excited to be offering hip hop workshops with guest instructor Matt Agoli on Saturday, January 13. Matt was the hip hop adjudicator at the Kenora Festival of the Arts last year and led some great, high-energy workshops as part of that event. We’re excited to have him back in Kenora again and hope that everyone takes advantage of this learning opportunity!

Saturday, January 13, 2024
2:00 pm to 3:00 pm – Ages 7 to 10
3:15 pm to 4:30 pm – Ages 11 and up

Registration is open to everyone – from our current studio dancers to anyone else that wants to kick off the new year with some dancing. Cost for each workshop is $30 (including HST). Current or previous dance families can register through the events section in their portal account. New dancers/families please register using the links in the event calendar. Please share the event information with anyone you think might be interested.

Picture Day

Please mark your calendars for our studio picture day on Saturday, February 24. If you know your dancer has another event that day we can often accommodate for conflicts when creating the schedule. Please let Ms. Erin know about any scheduling requests as soon as possible and we will do our best to factor that in when creating the schedule (once the schedule is sent out it will be final).

Parking

A reminder to be mindful of our neighbouring businesses when dropping off or picking up your dancer. If you have class on weekdays before 5:30 pm please use the parking spots closest to the studio as your first choice if they are available. If using the middle of the parking lot please be sure to leave access open to NAPA’s garage door and enough room for the NAPA delivery vehicles to come and go. Thank you!

Attendance & Make-up Classes

Don’t forget that dancers are able to attend make-up classes in another level or style if they have missed their own class for any reason. Just send us an email or a text message to let us know when you plan to attend a make-up class. And if you’re unsure what class to attend as a make-up class please reach out to Ms. Erin for suggestions.

Payments

A reminder for those paying tuition fees in installments that the next payment will be processed on January 5. If you need to make any adjustments to your payment method please do so through your portal account or let the studio know if you need to make different payment arrangements.
