Hello DWK families,

We’ve had a great first month of dance! We hope your dancer is settling into the routine and enjoying their classes. Here are a few items to review and news to be aware of as the dance year continues.

Dress Code & Indoor Shoes

Please help your dancer to arrive on time, with the proper clothing, footwear, and hair for their class…and don’t forget a water bottle. The dress code is a requirement for dance class and ensures that dancers are ready to safely participate in class and allow instructors to view and correct body placement and technique.

All dancers, but particularly Hip Hop dancers, please make sure you are only wearing indoor shoes for class. This helps reduce debris on the studio floor which is better for its maintenance and also keeps it clean for classes that dance in bare feet or that do more floor work during class.

You can always check our Dress Code if you are unsure of class requirements or are wondering where to purchase dancewear from. The studio has a stock of dance tights in various colours and sizes through our online store.

Parking & Pick-up/Drop-off

A reminder that as dancers get comfortable entering and exiting the studio we encourage parents/guardians to drop-off and pick-up at the door. Parents of young dancers should come to the door with them so that they are not navigating the parking lot on their own. If there are parking spots available when you arrive at the studio please use those first rather than using the middle of the parking lot. This is especially important for the first few classes in the evening that overlap with the operating hours of our neighbouring businesses.

Triple Threat / Power Dance Convention in Winnipeg

We have a number of dancers, age 7+, attending this two day dance convention in Winnipeg this year. It’s not too late to join our studio group for this event held at the Winnipeg Convention Centre on Saturday, November 11 and Sunday, November 12. Classes offered can include jazz, tap, hip hop, jazz funk, contemporary, and more.

Dance conventions are a great opportunity to learn from different teachers or professional dancers, explore different styles of dance, experience dancing in a larger group setting, and for dancers to challenge themselves in a different training environment.

For more details or to register your dancer at the studio early bird rate for this event contact Erin at info@danceworkskenora.com by Sunday, October 15.

Parent Viewing

We will be arranging class viewing opportunities later in the fall. Stay tuned for more information.
